5 Things That Should Not Be In Your Resume
69
A resume is said to be the key to success. It is your passport to the job world and it is often said that a good resume can give you a good start in life. If you want you can get many tips on how to get the right resume and what should be included in the resume.
For example, there are various patterns, preferred ways about how you should lay out your resume, and so on. But often enough what you should never have on your resume is rarely discussed by others. And this is as important as the things that you should always have in your resume.
1. First of all do not give away your age. It is not needed and no one can discriminate you on the ground of age. Giving away your age is giving them the key to judge you on your age though the hirers may not ask you any question relating to it. They may leave you out for being too old or for being too young. So do not write your age, date of birth and your graduation date and year in your resume. All these information give away your age or at least an idea of it.
2. Forget about adding your interests and hobbies, unless they are related to your job in some way that would enhance your image. Otherwise, no one is interested in your personal life or your interests. The hiring person only wants to see if your experience and education suits his need. If your hobby has something to do with the job only then you should add it in your resume. Also there is no need to add your marital status.
3. There is no place for your job objectives and goals. The only person to have an objective is the hirer. So make sure you include only the relevant portions so that it is easy to get there and leave out all those things that are irrelevant to the job description. That might hide your actual qualifications.
4. You should also be aware that any experience you mention but do not authenticate it with any document, is as good as no information. So include those experiences that have enough material to prove it.
5. Finally, do not make your resume long. As per practice a resume should not go beyond two pages, and that means you should leave out any third page.
