You have probably discussed your plans of renovating your old and horrid kitchen with all your closest and the most distant friends, colleagues and relatives by now. Surely not even one of them has failed to give you an idea of the latest designs in the market. But hey, everybody gets so much information all day long that they lose their common sense. So why don’t you release the pressure of all those information for the time being and have a glance at the most simple way of renovating your kitchen!

There are several aspects that you need to be aware of before setting up your kitchen, even if you are working with a professional kitchen designer!

  • You need to be conscious of the space that is currently occupied by your old kitchen cabinets and therefore, you need to measure the cabinets and walls. If required, ask a friend or a family member to help you out.
  • Obtain the exact measurement of the walls by measuring each wall in at least three places, i.e., once at the floor level, then at 48 inches above the floor and lastly at the ceiling level. Repeat the entire process by moving from wall to wall, all around the room and record the accurate measurements.
  • Ask a friend or a family member to help you out in measuring the distances by holding the measuring tape at the floor and you can pull the other end tightly to the edge of the next wall. Don’t let any sag or bend occur while stretching the tape as it may dilute your accurate readings. Also use a strong professional measuring tape to receive the precise measurements.
  • Use the smallest dimensions while jotting down the measurements for your kitchen cabinet layouts. For the other deviations, measure in inches like "1/2 inch long at the ceiling" or "3/4 inch short at the floor”.
  • Subsequently, measure all the walls from the floor to ceiling. Use graph paper to sketch the layout of your kitchen including the windows, doorways or recess spots in the room. Draw each wall on separate sheets of graph paper.
  • Even the kitchen cabinets need to be measured and recorded on separate sheets of graph paper. Also make paper cutouts of your existing cabinets and move them around the walls of your kitchen layouts. You can even add or remove pieces.

You can also use these cutouts to research kitchen cabinets online and help your professional online designer have a visual of your kitchen’s layout. This procedure to upgrade one’s kitchen online is very common now and you should try it out too!
