How to Clean Your Kitchen Cabinets

The kitchen will never be the same without kitchen cabinets. These cabinets are very important when it comes to the storage of your food and kitchen utensils. Having them in your kitchen also allows you to have more space.

Since we use the kitchen everyday, the kitchen cabinets and its contents are exposed to smoke, moisture, grease, fingerprints, stains, smudges and dust. This will be a hindrance to your kitchen cabinets making their quality go down. Aside from that, having the contents of your kitchen cabinet exposed to these elements can endanger your family’s health.

Here are some ideas that you can use to help you have a clean kitchen cabinet:

  • It is important that you make an effort to clean your kitchen cabinets regularly. You can use a mild dishwashing detergent with warm water. Dip a sponge in the mixture and then squeeze out the water. After that use the damp sponge to wipe the kitchen cabinets and make sure that you dry them immediately with a soft dry cloth. Do this at least once a month.
  • If there is a build up of heavy grease in your kitchen cabinets then make a 50 – 50 solution of ammonia and warm water. Dip a sponge in the mixture and get rid of the excess water. Then scrub away the grease and dry with a soft dry cloth. Take note that you should not use any abrasive scrubbers or cleansers for this will only damage the finish of your cabinet.
  • To make your kitchen cabinet smelling fresh all day, place a small open jar of baking soda in each one of them. Make sure that you replace the baking soda at least every month.
  • If the hinges on your kitchen cabinets are squeaking every time you open them then get rid of the noise by applying vegetable oil on the hinges. Do not use products or sprays that have petroleum since this will only attract dust.
  • If you want to bring back the shine to your kitchen cabinets all you have to do is to rub lemon oil on the surface of the cabinet. This does not only make your cabinets look better but it also brings back its value.

Great advice. I have been putting my mothers kitchen cabnets off and now I have a good reason to make them look nice again.

Used some of these tips last night. Leak caused a mess, had to move and clean all types of stuff. Fun :(

Thanks! VibrantViews, I sure do hope the leak wasn't too bad. That can be a huge hassle!

I like that you said dry them after. What a difference that makes, but many people don't take that extra minute.
